We have a new pastime that's so stupid. We stumbled on YouTube quiz videos about video games and movies and somehow got caught up and did them for like 2 hours. Man, I wouldn't even be good on a quiz show but I'd love to go anyway...
On Tuesday the commission was finally done. I can't reveal what it looks like yet as it's for an upcoming project! Excited. I wasn't sure if I actually made something worthwhile until I heard back from the client and she said she liked it a lot and I instantly felt so much relief.
Wednesday was the actual due date but because I sent it out early I didn't need to worry. Felt good to be ahead (barely) of schedule for once. However, new problems always find a way. My mum went to the market to buy fruit and vegetables as usual and when she got back she was relaxing, no worries or nothing. My brother got ready to meet up with some friends and he needed a little money so my mum checked if she had any cash for him. But she couldn't find her wallet.
We searched the entire house. Not there. Problem is my mum has a tendency to forget her wallet or card...often. She left her wallet at the bakery once, she was lucky the guys who own the shop know us and kept it safe. Another time she left her card in the ATM and we were again lucky that the guy who found it returned it to the bank instead of pocketing it. Anyway, we run up and down the market but we can't find it. My mum is hyperventilating and crying already (none of us take stress well despite being stressed 24/7). We probably looked like a whole ass clown show to all the market goers. My brother has to leave because the friends came by to pick him up already. Anyway, after another search at home I run out to look for my mum, she went to the bank to freeze the card because my first thought was she set the wallet down when she took her coins out and she just left it there. Then someone grabbed it.
A police cruiser parks and an officer steps out and talks to a vendor, I hear the vendor explain that a lady lost her wallet and that she saw some other lady grab a black wallet from nearby. I catch up with the officer and we get to my mum. He was very polite, unlike the other cops in our town who are literally rude off the get go. He says we have to go to the gendarmerie that's further out of town and make a report and they'll check the cameras. He's making some calls and I call Monique to see if she can drive us there. However, in like a minute, he tells me someone has brought the wallet to the precinct and that we can just go pick it up. My mum instantly relaxes, we thank the guy and run over there.
A nice receptionist has us confirm what was inside the wallet. Card, ID, family pics, etc. And 40 euros. She checks and there's only 20. So we guess the lady that brought it in probably helped herself to a 20. Honestly, I ain't even mad. She may have needed it and she kept the ID/insurance card safe so we'll just take it as a service fee. But it cracks me up. Like, taking the whole 40 is a little much, but a 20 is fair. We're still lucky I guess, that's a three for three.
On Thursday my period started so I was annoyed and refilling my water-bag thingy every hour. I cleaned my room up a bit. Tom came over at 8 to watch Bring It On because he had never seen it! He and I agree that Missy probably wanted to get with Torrance but the year was 2000... Also talk about a cast of gorgeous gals! Eliza Dushku, Gabrielle Union, Kristen Dunst... wow...
I woke up pretty early on Friday and the first thing I did was grab my phone and start it on the new Deftones album, Private Music. Oh, man. I wish I could just rave about the songs. I wish I could focus on the music. I actually can't say anything about the album as of now, I listened to it only once and was left with such a bitter taste I couldn't even process the songs at all. It started with the first second of Locked Club... not sonically, visually. Each song comes with a visualizer. Almost all of them are kind of mediocre if not bad, they're all very disjointed and distracting. But worst thing is... so many of them have AI. Seriously, Deftones?! It tainted the sound of the entire album for me. Literally I didn't even hear the music because I was so busy thinking about how shit the entire visual palette of the album was and how lazy and gross it was that they have this AI bullshit. If you're someone who's gonna tell me to just worry about the music, Deftones are a band not filmographers, or that it's just visualizers, blah blah blah... no. Gen AI is just trash, keep it out of art.
I want to make a proper review about this for Stacks, Lennon's zine about music, you should check it out, it's very cool. I'll later post it to the video club blog as well. But yeah, I'm waiting for my CD that should arrive on the 26th. I'm gonna pop it in, get properly immersed in the music and never touch their shit on YouTube ever again. So fucking disappointing.
Saturday was alright, I did some shopping and caught up a bit with Blaugust. I have to post every day to make it to 15 posts this time around. I want that silver award bad. Also I'm just excited to start using my new planner after next week, which will be the last week of August!

Sunday was pretty uneventful, my period finally ended. I was organizing my desktop, it's a huge mess again. Also did some drawing just for myself. September will probably be very busy, I'll start working soon I hope and classes should be on again. I've been pretty mired in projects this week, kind of neglected some other important things, but that's what next week's for, eh?

This Week I'm Excited For...
As mad as I was about the digital release of Private Music, I'm still excited for the CD. I hope I can forget all that bullshit by the time it gets to me and I can just enjoy it. Everyone's saying it's the best thing since Diamond Eyes but I'm gonna need more time to see about that. Plus, I doubt it, because Koi No Yokan is literally their best.
Image Of The Week...
Another flickr find. Such a nostalgic and cute set up. This kind of nostalgia still gets to me.
Song Of The Week...
Yeah, it's not a Deftones song... even if it is the week the album came out. I can't, I feel too raw. Instead I listened to an incredible album over and over all week, but especially during the weekend. There's nearly no bad tracks, and I almost feel like I can't pick a favourite but something in Collapse is just calling to me right now. So, Collapse by Sparta.
