{January 2026 End}

First month of 2026 is already over?! Say it ain't so! It was a difficult month for me but I did get some important stuff out of the way so we'll count what counts.

Goals

 1. Buy a present for my mum

I spent ALL my money on bills this month and I have no good ideas for a gift either. I have two weeks to think of something stat!

2. Meeting with France Travail

Done and done, waiting to hear back from them.

3. Apply for titre de voyage/carte vitale

Something is really weird with the insurance site and I can't login. Need to bring it up with the social worker next meeting.

4. Full update to CDwORLD

Nearly done! Added a bunch of members and half the CDs. Woo!

5. Finish COTY calendar for July-August

Didn't do this this month... gotta finish it in February and March!

6. Localize all web site assets

Not all, but lots. I'll count it.

7. Continue notebook database excel

Did that and scanned some more notebooks. It will be nice to put them upstairs and make some more space in my room.

Best Of: January

 Movies

In January I watched 14 movies, only one of which was a re-watch (Bunraku). Saw some really bad stuff for the sake of completing a series ranging form just meh (the latest Scream movies) to awful garbage to round out a total trash series of films (the Expendables). I think my favourite movie of the month was Lucky Number Slevin, followed closely by 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple and Life As A House.

TV Shows

I didn't finish anything new this month, we finished Season 2 of Ugly Betty but it's a re-watch for me. Guess I'll be done with Fallout season 2 next month.

Games

I finished 2 games this month: Halo 3 and the Divison. And we finished Left 4 Dead again but with a friend who's never played it before! All three were really good but I'll probably have to give it to Left 4 Dead (as usual). I also played a lot of Mass Effect, my usual high dosage of Titanfall 2, and we started Hunter: The Reckoning which is a very silly game that is honestly kind of bad but I had fun.

Books

I'm still reading One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This by Omar El Akkad. It's not a slog or anything, very beautiful (in the sense that there is no hiding the monstrosities the book is about) and honest prose. I've just not been reading consistently this month is all.

Music

Been enjoying a lot of down-tempo and ambient and it's a strong stalemate between Yppah's They Know What Ghost Know and Kodomo's Still Life. Check out these tracks and tell me which you like better. Or don't. There's no actual prizes on the account that this isn't actually a competition.

Animation

I started a re-watch of Venture Bros. I was crazy about this cartoon in uni but for some reason I never finished it and now I can't remember where I stopped so I decided to just start from the beginning. God, it's so good. Watch it right now!
