Hello there. One hell of a week, huh? I've totally failed my 31 teen scream films thing on the movie blog, I still have hopes to do the top 10 but I have like 14 gaps between the start of the challenge and the end. It's no big deal because no one's reading them and I'm also writing them so maniacally they are probably kinda hard to read. I decided to pre-write everything from here on out. Finally I actually know what blogging challenges exist and don't have to find out about them last second. I don't feel really bad for not doing anything for Inktober because no prompt list really inspired me this year. Feeling much more excited for either Fairyary or Magical March next year. Anyway! That's like way in the future, what about now? Well...
Beginning the week!
Monday I was still feeling sick from the weekend and didn't go to class. However, because no one went grocery shopping I dropped by our grocery store. Saw some really cute boots for about 40 euros but they didn't fit me because I'm short and fat. Basically no boots are made for my particular proportions of the leg, so the boot is too slim too low because bootmakers assume every girl is 1m75 and have calves that start sky high. Very sad.
My brother made hot dogs. They looked so fancy, at least to me. I got mine with ketchup, mustard, and some diced onion. It was delicious and I'm usually not a hot dog fan.
Dogs!
Also visited Alice's Avocado Records, best emo site in town. Otherwise I was busy with finding Xbox games for us, here's some I got that I'm personally excited to try:
Always wanted to play, never had the game!
It's a classic.
Never played the 2nd one.
Trying Halo for the first time at age 26 LOL.
I heard it's funny.
Am in love with her.
On Tuesday I went to class at last, feeling sort of better. Maria was finally back, she's been having issues with her back but she seems to be feeling a little better. We're still waiting for some government organization to send her a special chair. Her and the teacher keep joking that they should have asked for a throne. Anyway, we were making yet another poster, this time for the 25th of November which is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
They started yesterday but didn't get past the idea stage because I suspect they were waiting for me. Again, I wish we could have some adult art classes so adults wouldn't be so scared to put some crayon to paper and go wack. Some ideas were a little... strong? Like one proposal was to have a woman's face with a bruise and blood dripping. I thought that seemed a little insensitive but we had a domestic abuse survivor in our midst who was fine with it so it's really her call.
I made a poster with Hamza and Veronika again but everyone chipped in. It was black and white only and sort of like a comic. I tried to keep it less graphic and mostly just really bold out the emergency phone line for shelters and associations that could help. Then we had to present our posters and I actually felt okay going on for a while even though I know I made a lot of mistakes. For dinner I made pork chops.
Dinner~!
Wednesday was my non-class day. My sister and mum went to another town to pick up my sister's travel doc. Sadly it was not the actual doc but just biometrics. Due to this bad planning they had to postpone their trip to Barcelona and cancel their Monetochka tickets which is really sad because my sister really wanted to go and she hasn't been on a vacation for a while now too.
I also almost made them late for the train because I begged my mum to drop by the local bookstore to pick up Deftones' Around The Fur. I know it's wrong, but it's Deftones! They still made it back on time.
Also, our family friends, Jean Louis and Minou, dropped off some old tech the day before that I finally set up. It included a DVD/CD player set that I sadly could not connect to the TV. However, I was able to get the CD player to work with the subwoofer. There was only one cable, which I split in half, exposed the wire and attached both speakers to the subwoofer with these little clasps mechanism that were there. The player is sick, it lights up a lovely blue and green!
Woah!
They also dropped off a CD rack, which is perfect because I was starting to run out of space on my shelf.
Always room for more!
I also finally put up my Star Wars poster too.
I had a buddy who burnt his eyes out watching this...
Cat.
On Thursday we finished up the posters and Aicha told us that the other class that shares the building with us, those who are learning how to use computers, couldn't come up with any ideas for posters and that's without communication issues because they're all French speakers. And we managed three posters with our always grammatically challenged international collective. Hurray! I'm not gonna lie, I was pretty burned out from poster making. For lunch I risked it and bought a "taco" instead of my usual and instantly regretted it. Never try new things. I did start season 3 of Buffy though so that was nice.
All three posters.
Hamza's poster.
My poster.
The ... really direct one?
On Friday I was supposed to go to class and from there to a special meeting with everyone in relation to Octobre Rose. Sadly I was feeling super sick and didn't make it. Instead me and Mo started Halo Combat Evolved and yes, we actually like it a lot. All those years of trashing Halo for nothing! Don't get me wrong I still think Halo and Mass Effect look super generic but the music is so good. And the War Hog is fun so all is forgiven.
Dry as hell.
On Saturday I was feeling sort of better. I went out to get snacks with Tom and Mo as we were supposed to study at our house. We convinced Tom to one match of Modern Warfare and we was all like: "Okay, but just one match!" Anyway, we played like 6 or 7 matches and then played a bunch of Modern Warfare 3. Then we also played a whole lotta rounds of Blur. We ended up studying for exactly zero minutes.
We've been spoiled this week.
I was not feeling good on Sunday, sneezing and coughing a lot. Sort of worked on my site, I started the 2022 art page but didn't finish. Feel pretty overwhelmed. Did retrieve my lava lamp, I can finally use it now that I have my own room and it rocks! Thought I broke it for a second but it's all good. The movie blog has totally collapsed. I think I'll still write the top 10 and do the middle chunk I skipped at my own pace. Again, not pre-writing has failed me.
I did break the law this week though. I watched YouTube videos. However! They were selective and I can count them on one hand. First, the Dan and Phil they are together actually reveal all along. I'm not the most active viewer now and at their peak, like 2012 I guess, I really liked them but I wasn't involved in the fandom at all. I learned about the horrific invasions into their privacy much later. Honestly, it may have been obvious but good for them, they're one of my few childhood faves who didn't turn out to be some kind of freak or loser (looking at you, Cryaotic). Me and my brother also watched the new videogamedunkey video on the new Battlefield. Holy balls, man, 300,000 person long queues? Fuck off! Yeah, it was insane. I did listen to music on YouTube too but listened more on radio. Watched many tutorial videos for the 360 exploit but I don't count those because I didn't have one iota of fun watching them. On Sunday I watched the New York mayoral debates via Hasanabi, he had Gianmarco Soresi on! How cool! But that's about it. I'll probably give myself permission to watch some things on the weekend but not during the week. Not watching YouTube everyday hasn't changed my life or anything but it really removed some noticeable pressure.
End of week 42.
This Week I'm Excited For...
I'm excited to try out a solo/journal RPG in a notebook. It's something I've literally done as a kid all the time minus the dice. Now I'm gonna go to war with the dice! And the rule book! I'm trying the Ironsworn rules, I got bored of the default world and races so I'll probably make my own.
Song Of The Week...
We're getting a little different today, but since we started Halo Combat Evolved, I've been totally enamored with the music. There's so many good tracks, but my favourite probably is A Walk In The Woods. It's such a strange track, but it's so groovy yet space-y, when I first heard it in the game I was totally taken aback, but in a good way.
