Week 44

It's the Halloween week. I get too excited about costume holidays. I mean, every holiday to me is a costume holiday. Halloween is not huge in France (at least in a small Southern town), but we will still have lots of trick or treaters come by because we are smack dab in the center of the commune.

On Monday mum and Mo were out to do something work related in a nearby town to ours. I went to the store and picked up a bunch of essentials. Carried it all back by foot, it was pretty heavy. As usual a little house stuff done too. I started a huge closet de-clutter. It's still a mess but I'm trying to keep it really organized and recorded digitally so I don't make too much of a mess when I want to plan an outfit.

I want to start some kind of work out routine because everything is just too achy. I was never like a paragon of fitness but I used to have great stamina for physical labour and these days I'm exhausted from walking somewhere... basically I need to return my body to a place where I could deal with fatigue better. I was reading Krish's new blog post the other day and about their condition that they fortunately diagnosed that effects their tiredness levels and remembered that I've been off my supplements for my anemia for a while now. I took Iron and Vitamin B to reduce the symptoms of my anemia which included a lot of fatigue, weakness, and chest pains. These symptoms piss me off the most. Seems like I have to keep taking my supplements.

Started the end of the year cleanse, de cluttering my phone by deleting a lot of apps, files, and so on. Like why do I have 3 different mp3s for Pearl Jam's Alive? Who knows. Cleared out my closet too and some of my jewelry. I deleted OpenWardrobe, I was using it to track clothes and think up outfits but it kind of served it's purpose. They never added a proper social feature (where someone can make you an outfit with stuff from you closet and so on) so I've moved on. Realized I lost a bunch of little trinkets but that's life, man.

 ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ RIP in peace, you will not be forgotten. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

We finished watching season 1 of Shogun, it was a good watch but what I'm really excited for is Sakamoto Days and Severance Season 2. I made a cake on Tuesday. It was a very moist raspberry-lemon cake with a lemon icing. You know I would kill for raspberries, hands down they are the best berry. As usual, I know my cooking looks ratchet but it actually tastes good, please trust me.

  ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Shit I do at 2 AM ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

On Wednesday, as usual, we went to the recyclerie in the morning. I found a cute Esprit blouse and a black scarf with little stars. My mum got herself two pairs of heels and a leather bag. I'm happy about that because she usually doesn't get herself anything.  Her work friend came over for lunch and told us about a trip she took with her kids to Spain. It's currently holidays for French school kids. We had soup with meatballs and more of my cake for dessert.

 ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ A slice! ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

After that I went to LIDL to get some more candy and batteries for my camera. Later at night, me and Mo took pics to use for our IDs. We're going to be interns at Black Mesa, which has to be the worst internship imaginable.

  ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Why do we have to wear these ridiculous ties?! ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

We used our fuck-ass printer to print them, it sort of came out fine. Colours were a total mess and there was still jitter but it still beats running to the post office or the copy shop last minute.

Anyway, then Halloween was upon us! We spent the morning lazily putting some minimal decorations together. It was just some ghosts made from A4 paper and red food colouring hand prints (blood!). Before the evening began we played Lethal Company with Mo and his friends from college. We only got through a few rounds before little trick or treaters started showing up. Kids ranged from super impolite and snatching way too much to so, so polite that I had tell them to take some more candy. We got dressed up, my sister's friend came over and so did Monique. She did not dress up but we like when she's over for dinner.

  ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ We went to the store like this. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

There was stuff happening in the town theater. Some haunted house stuff and general snack stands and games for kids. My sister and her friend totally missed out because they got dressed up way too late and went trick or treating too late as well. However, my sister's costume was totally insane and spooky. She was Curly from Mouthwashing (I'm sorry I have no idea who that is). My sister did my mum's look too, she had sugar skull make up and a bad wig I wore last year.

   ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ It's giving Monster High on a budget. Still good. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Don't shoot, we're with the science team! ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Halloween 2024, baby! ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

When we finished dinner, mum made a quiche followed by pesto pasta with roast beef, Monique went home and the rest of us watched a movie. We were totally out of ideas so we just re-watched Unfriended which is such a dumb movie but my mum cant stand horror so we really have to pick dumb and unbelievable movies.

And so, October came to an end. I totally failed with Inktober again, but I'm okay with it. I'll have a sturdier set-up for Fairyary and won't be so overwhelmed. Good news is that writing takes basically no preparation, space, or special equipment. Nanowrimo is dead to me (AI shilling, grooming on the forums allegations, etc.), so I'm just doing Wrimo now. That's writing month. Not novel, not national. Fuck it, just writing month. I was prepping a little booklet in October to be ready to put some thoughts down on paper. I'm writing a script for a visual novel about a fantasy steampunk setting embroiled in a war! I'm updating daily on my art blog about it. So the first day of November, Friday, was busy with that.

Saturday was pretty special because I kept up with my writing streak well and in the early afternoon Monique took us to a forest where she goes mushroom gathering. We had our own mission though. We were looking for some cool branches we could use to make a cat tree for our dumb animals. The place was pretty magical. It's a little smaller and drier than some other woods I've been to but still so pretty. Especially because it's autumn.

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Enter the woods! ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

As you go deeper, you will come across a pigeon house? Pigeon castle? It's this huge construction that was used by hunters to hunt wild pigeons. They could cook there and everything. It's super tall and imposing, like something out of a 90s or 2000s children's film about kids living in the woods.

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Where The Wild Things Are? Bridge to Terabithia? ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Indie budget movie poster feat. my brother. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ It's free real estate. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

We walked for near to two hours and my stupid shoes broke. The soles totally flapped off! Like how does that even happen? They were hiking boots and all. Monique had no luck with any mushrooms, we saw a lot of little stubs where someone clearly came away with something before us. There was a non-moving stream too and lots of places where the weight of a tree or a storm cracked the bank open and caused a whole chunk of the riverbed to stand by itself, like an island.

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚I'm on the lookout for elves. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

 ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Free logs! Just kidding, I didn't take any. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ The woods are cut in half by the road. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Cryptid spotted! ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

Anyway we got what we wanted and found two sturdy branches that will be our future cat tree. Hope the cats like it. When we got home the cats were super excited by the branches and sniffed them a lot.

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ I want my Cat TV. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

However! We had a whole new problem. Simona started acting crazy near the exterior shutters on our balcony. Next thing we know a little bat fell out and was squeaking like crazy until it flew away. Everyone came away okay but I was worried that it had rabies!

˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚ Yoshi is the smart one, Simona is, er... the other one. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ ˚

I never take chances so I'm not letting the cats on the balcony until it's totally gone. Because the next day it literally came back and was asleep in the same spot. I moved the shutter to make it not as inviting but the bat woke up. It was shaking like crazy and I was scared I killed it or something but apparently they always wake up sluggish and shaky until they are warmed up enough to leave. It didn't come back and I hope it does not. Find a better spot, buddy.

Outside me hitting all my writing goals, Sunday was pretty uneventful. I did do some work on my website so I think I can finally publish it comfortably by the end of the month. Kind of excited. We're re-watching Silicon Valley too but we'll have to pick out another show soon.
