It's a hectic week. Like, more so than usual. I know I use hectic all the time. Like, what does it even mean anymore? Who knows. Anyway. It starts with when they catch the CEO killer. His worst crime: he's cringe. His book reviews are shallow, his political takes are lukewarm, right of center, and wrong. He's a techbro. However, eyebrows are amazing. Probably what got him caught too. And though it would have made a much stronger statement if he was actually working class, left-leaning, and avenging the passing or injury of someone dear to him, this works too. Everyone is fucked by business perverting essential services. Health, education, transportation, etc. What I'm saying is that the CEO had it coming and the rest of them should be worried. Don't try to hide behind your kid, Elon Musk. Anyway, mamma-mia, they-a caught-a Luigi!
We're re-watching Fallout, my sister and my mum hadn't seen it. On Tuesday I was getting ready for our trip to Paris. Before that I went to get groceries, there were lots of discounts so I bought steaks. We finally bought a Christmas/New Year tree. We participate in the holidays in a secular way. The tree looks really cute, my sister decided we're going for a red and gold theme but by the end we were putting up whatever we had.

On Wednesday we left super early. We took the 7:30 train to Bordeaux, Mo was supposed to go straight to SPADA to ask about his insurance and transportation card. Just when we got off the train and were about to get on the tram, he realized he left all his documents at home. Passport, invitation letter, temporary ID. So... that was bad. Like the dumbest possible thing to happen. So we call mum and beg her to bring the document folder somehow. Fortunately she has a very lax working schedule so she said she would be there at lunch. That was good because our train is only at 16:00. Mo was shaking and freaking out but the problem was already solved so I tried to calm him down and sent him to figure out the insurance thing.

I went to Bershka to get some new combat boots because I saw some on their site that had a nice curved toe and I needed ones to replace my old ones. I only have my Nokia now and it does have Google maps but works very slowly. I actually almost made it to Rue Sainte-Catherine on memory but took a wrong turn at Marche des Capucins. When my brother called I was still walking to the center so we just met there. Stopped by Flying Tiger but they didn't have anything I was interested in, except these cute colourful pens and hair ties. My hair is now long enough to make the most minuscule ponytails. We bought my boots and I got some knee-length socks from Calzedonia, I've been searching for some for a while and I also needed them while breaking in my new boots.

We went and checked out the tech at Darty because we want to give my mum headphones for New Year. We found some really cute Sony ones in cream that she will like. Found out my brother has been pronouncing beige as 'beezh' this entire time. We jumped onto a tram to meet mum at the station just as she called us and told us to wait at the center. Waste of a ticket, we got up after one stop. We met here there and went to sit at a cafe, Mo finally re-united with his documents. It's a really cute place called Land&Monkeys, I recommend. We left Mo to rest there while mum and I went to buy her a new pair of glasses in a very gentle pink. We also bought felt for my sister, she wanted to make some crafts, I guess. After that we headed to the station and got on our train. The train to Paris is only about 3 hours and super comfy so the time went quickly.
We arrived late so we headed straight for the hotel, only stopping for drinks at a store and some sausages. We checked into our room, the staff is super nice but the hotel room totally sucked. We were here on business so it was whatever. We made cup noodles and watched some YouTube videos. I fell asleep pretty early but I'm sure Mo stayed up, he was very nervous. Tomorrow he would have his interview at OFPRA and that would be the deciding factor of whether or not he would get asylum in France. Obviously, we were all on edge but the more nervous you are the harder the process gets so I tried to make sure he was as calm as possible.
We woke up really early the next day. We got the hotel breakfast which was super sad but convenient because after that we headed straight to OFPRA by foot. We arrived early, there was not that many people on that day. He went straight for the rendez-vous line and they ushered him into another line. I waited for a bit but soon enough he was heading inside so I left. I went to the mall to look for presents.
I arrived at a pretty big mall but everything was closed. I read a bit. I'm really enjoying Michael Parenti's Blackshirts and Reds right now. The guy thinks Chomsky isn't woke enough. Anyway, the toy store opened up and I look at what they had. I found a bunch of Monster High dolls but all the new generations were pretty ugly. Luckily they had recreations of older models. The choice was between Clawdeen and Frankie Stein. I got Clawdeen because she was giving more gal and my sister likes gal. Basically, she's thirteen but she kept bringing up Monster High this year. I think she's embarrassed to say she still wants a doll or toys because she's 'officially' a teen now. She can have it as a collector's item if that makes her feel older anyhow. Anyway, I'm 25 and I still want dolls.
They didn't have the headphones we wanted for mum at this mall so now I started really regretting not getting them in Bordeaux. Anyway, eventually my brother called me and said the interview was done. He has mixed feelings about how he did but I think it went fine. Honestly, I thought I did terribly and I cried like two times during mine and I got my status. So, I think he did well. Well enough, so. I saw a Krispy Kreme stand so I bought some for him. He's a doughnut enjoyer and our history with Krispy Kreme goes a while back. We had them in Thailand one time and they were so good. I got the regular glazed ones, a chocolate one, and a cinnamon one. They are really good but overpriced. We met back at the hotel after lunch because my dumbass got lost and took forever getting back. We ate the doughnuts and rested a bit. Then we decided to do sight-seeing.
˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ Just terrible photos. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ |
We started with the Arc de Triomphe. I've been in Paris twice now but I haven't seen anything but the broke down Notre Dame. So we looked at it and then moved towards the Eiffel Tower. There was a Christmas market and some really good smelling food. But obviously, expensive, and all the trinkets on sale were pretty lame. The worst part was that the entire Champ de Mars area was blocked off. My ass wanted to sit there for a bit. We walked towards the Louvre but we were so hungry and tired we decided to give up. We found a fusion Asian place that served an entree, a main course, a drink, and dessert for 15 euros. Pretty good deal so we ate there. Then we just headed to the hotel because it was a super long day.
Honestly, I think I'm just a country bumpkin now. Big cities wear me out. However, people in Paris are quite nice so don't believe everyone who says that all Parisians are rude. We got stuck in the RER because the ticket machine is incoherent as fuck and I must have got the wrong tickets. A random guy stopped and let us exit with his pass. And when it happened again... because I am literally a moron... the metro staff let us out.
˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ Love a good metro though. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ |
Anyway back at the hotel I went straight to bed, watched a little Totally Spies on the TV and also news about what Macron is doing with the new prime minister. Fucker. Anyway, Mo also napped because he was going to watch the Game Awards and I would have to but I was dead tired.
The next day we woke up pretty early and got packed, Mo recounted the major events at the Game Awards. Drunk Harrison Ford, Witcher is 'woke' now, and just endless Gacha nonsense. No Half Life announcements. No Valve anything. Ciri was and is hot, and she's going to be hot, and if she wasn't, I don't care. Asmongold and his cronies are worthless trash with no taste and leg to stand on. The Naughty Dog product-placement Bebop ripoff does look lame, but the diversity is not related to that.
We went straight to Montparnasse. Said bye to the hotel staff, they were very friendly and helpful despite the lame hotel itself. We arrived early as hell, as usual. We went to Miniso, which is so expensive in Europe but I do miss it. We got a bunch of small gifts for my sister there. Then we went to another Darty and finally found the cream headphones for mum. We walked around the station a million times and eventually we were ready to board the train. However! It was delayed by 50 minutes. Classic France moment. We decided to go out and find some small cafe or restaurant to sit at. A bit out we found a very cute Yakitori place and before we could actually decide a very friendly guy waved us in. It was not that expensive and very pleasant. Mo got gyoza and I got a salmon-avocado roll plate.
˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ A light but cozy lunch. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ |
The train was not delayed further so we got ourselves in and got to Bordeaux. We took the next train straight away. At about 18:30 we were finally home. Thank goodness! Honestly, I'm not traveling further than Bordeaux for the next year. I've had my fill.
Saturday was uneventful, I was recovering. I am a weak person. I watched like... four movies. Roll Bounce, Starter for 10, and Sleepover were good. Then Mo decided we should watch the Expendables for some reason. Literally a collection of the ugliest white dudes in cinematic history. Terrible movie.
Sunday we went to do cleaning lady work but it was fast and easy because the house we're cleaning was empty for months. Mostly dust. Then at 16:00 our town held a free concert. An orchestra from a nearby town, which is bigger than ours, was coming to play music from Ghibli. The whole thing was accompanied by live drawing with pastels by a Lot-et-Garonne illustrator. It was awesome! The orchestra played really well and the artist was skilled, he would draw scenes from the movies.
˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ Um, barely legible, I know. ˚ʚ ☘︎ ɞ |
The photos do not do it justice, I know. But I was nervous to take anymore pics so I decided not to. Mo and my sister's friend enjoyed but my sister fell asleep. It was very lovely...and free! It's awesome how many free events our little town can host.

This week was a little wild for my tastes. I know it's lame and against the spirit of the community but I really am a homebody. I've been stretched thin this week. Anyway, as the year is coming to an end, everyone is leaving for holidays, looking for their time to finally relaxed. A little calm, hopefully. Also, this week's entry is... on time? I can hardly believe it.
